Sri Lanka Navy Seizes Over 600kg of Heroin and Ice

COLOMBO (News 1st); In one of the largest maritime drug busts in recent months, the Sri Lanka Navy has seized over 600 kilograms of heroin and crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as "ice") from two fishing vessels intercepted in the southern seas.

According to a statement from the Navy, the two vessels were brought to the Dikowita Fisheries Harbour early this morning, along with 11 suspects who were taken into custody during the operation.

The exact weight of the narcotics haul is still being verified, but initial assessments indicate a substantial quantity exceeding 600 kilograms.

The seizure was made during a special naval operation conducted yesterday in southern territorial waters.
