Education Minister to meet striking university non-academic staff

COLOMBO (News1st); A special discussion will be held on Friday (10) between the striking university non-academic staff and Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha.

The meeting is being held to inform of the solutions provided by the government regarding the issues faced by non-academic staff.

Today (10) marks nine days since university non-academic staff launched an indefinite strike, based on several issues including salary cuts.

Activities at all universities and 17 higher education institutions have been disrupted due to the strike action.

Co-Chairman of the University Trade Union Alliance Dhammika S. Priyantha said the measures taken by the government to address their demands are unsatisfactory.
