Public Security Secretary & Police Chief summoned to HRCSL over police brutality

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Sri Lanka's Human Rights Commission had summoned the Public Security Secretary and the Police Chief on 21st November over recent incidents of police brutality.

A statement from the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka said that it does not in any way accept the conduct of police officers who are committed to uphold the law to be acting in a manner that threatens the Rule of Law.

The Human Rights Commission said that the Public Security Secretary and the Police Chief would be questioned on recent events, and methods of preventing a recurrance.
