COLOMBO (News 1st); Doctors point out that the health sector is facing a severe crisis due to the lack of fuel, as some doctors are compelled to postpone to join queues to purchase fuel.

The Deputy Chairman of the Doctors Association of Sri Lanka, (Specialist) Dr. Chithran Hathurusinghe said that the crisis has worsened to a level where neurologists, cardiologists, gynecologists, and other surgeons have been compelled to cancel their patient lists to simply join the fuel queue.

If complications arise during surgeries, the Government must bear responsibility, he said.

Dr. Hathurusinghe, mentioning that about 15 people have already died in queues, stated that these deaths should be considered as homicides.
