Injunction in favor of Dilith Jayaweera refused by Judge

COLOMBO (News 1st); The case filed by George Steuart Health Pvt. Ltd. against MTV channel Pvt. Ltd. was taken up before the Colombo District Judge Honourable Anura Aluthge on Friday (02).

Court held that as averred by the Defendant MTV Channel Private Limited, the interim injunction cannot be maintained against chairman of George Steuart Health Private Limited Dilith Jayaweera or its employees as protection cannot be accorded to them as they have not been made parties to the instant action. Therefore Court further held that such a wide interim injunction cannot be maintained covering chairman of George Steuart Health Private Limited Dilith Jayaweera or employees of the company as they are not parties to this case, and that affording protection to them is outside the scope of this Court in such circumstances as such the Court rejected.

Court also held that, publishing of defamatory content only in connection to the import of COVID 19 Rapid antigen diagnostic test kits to the country, and its distribution and sale must not be done by MTV channel (Private) Limited .
