COLOMBO (News 1st): The upcoming three weeks are crucial with regard to COVID-19, given the lack of adherence with health guidelines during the festive season, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva emphasized on Friday (Apr. 23). Also commenting on the long weekend, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva STERNLY URGED the people to avoid attending public gatherings and remain at home. "We request the citizens of this country to remain home during this long weekend," General Shavendra Silva urged the general public. The Army Commander sternly advised the people, "We absolutely do NOT have the possibility of organising any events with large crowds. We request the people to avoid such gatherings and the organisers NOT to hold any events." Whilst pointing out that COVID-19 positive patients are detected from various parts of the country, General Shavendra Silva urged people to always wear a face mask and act with caution. "The people are requested to remain vigilant and be cautious as if the person next to you is infected with the virus," the Army Commander urged the public.
