PCR & COVID TESTS ON FACE MASK VIOLATORS

COLOMBO (News 1st): PCR and COVID-19 tests will be carried out on individuals who fail to wear face masks, in addition to instituting legal action, Sri Lanka Police said on Tuesday (Jan. 05). "From today (05), PCR tests and COVID-19 tests will be conducted in respect of the people who do not wear face masks, in addition to the court action taken by police," Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana emphasized. Another 74 suspects were arrested in a 24-hour window for the failure to wear face masks and maintain social distance, Police said on Tuesday morning (Jan. 05). Since 30th October 2020 to-date, a total of 2172 people have been arrested for the violation of COVID-19 regulations, according to DIG Ajith Rohana. "Therefore, wear a face mask at all times and respect the social distancing concept," the Deputy Police Chief urged the public.
