COLOMBO (News1st): A senior army officer has been delegated to each district to coordinate COVID-19 prevention measures in the country.
The appointments were made on the recommendations of Army Commander General Shavendra Silva who heads the National Operation Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak.
The newly-appointed officers include 18 Major Generals, 5 Brigadiers and 2 Colonels.
Their responsibilities include overseeing the quarantine process and taking steps to curb the spread of COVID-19 in their respective districts.
