Supreme Court rejects petitions against COVID-19 cremations

Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Supreme Court on Tuesday (02) dismissed petitions filed by several factions including Ex-Minister Rishad Bathiudeen against the government's regulation that makes cremations mandatory for COVID-related deaths.
Some 12 petitioners had challenged the official gazette issued in April by the Health Minister.
The petitions were considered in the presence of Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, Murdhu Fernando, and P. Padman Surasena.
