Candidate attacked days ahead of parliamentary poll

COLOMBO (News1st): A candidate of an independent group contesting the parliamentary election from Nuwara Eliya has been hospitalized following an attack. The candidate had been first attacked with tones while travelling in a three-wheeler on the Bogawantalawa-Hatton main road. He was attacked by a group afterwards. The victim was admitted to the Bagawanthalawa Regional Hospital and later transferred to the Dickoya Base Hospital. The parliamentary election is scheduled to be held on August 5.
