Inter-Provincial bus services across all districts, including Colombo and Gampaha commenced today with Railway services also being resumed. Public Transport services resumed in Colombo district after 75 days. Many modes of public transport services including inter-provincial bus service and trains recommenced operations normally. Transport services resumed following the instructions of health authorities, Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Transport Services Management said. As of now only buses and trains are provided approval to transport passengers. Discussions will be held to ascertain any losses incurred by the private bus owners, Minister added. The priority bus lane rule will also be in effect in the Western province from today, while measures are taken to create awareness among the drivers till 22nd of this month, Senior Police Officer, Indika Hapugoda said. Meanwhile, bus services from Matara to its surroundings took place as usual with services operating from Matara to Makumbura, Panadura, Kadawatha, and Kaduwela while the bus services were operated on regular roads. The bus services in Kurunegala district, Kandy to Colombo also commenced as usual today. Bus services covering all the districts commenced from Anuradhapura today with a lower number of passengers being reported today. Meanwhile, Railway services resumed today by following the health guidelines issued. A train set to Colombo from Kandy at 04.30 am today. The trains arrived to Mahawa, Rambukkana, and Kurunegala transported more passengers than the stipulated seats.
