Fraudulent use of state funds reported from Jaffna

Colombo (News 1st): The Presidential Commission to Investigate Fraud and Corruption in Public Institutions has commenced investigations into the fraudulent use of state funds, which were provided to Delft Island in Jaffna, by the Divisional Secretariat. According to the commission, following the lodging of the complaint the police unit of the PCoI has already commenced preliminary investigations. Complaints received by the Commission stated that officials of Delft Divisional Secretariat were giving tenders for development work at their discretion. The Presidential Commission stated that the complaint noted that certain infrastructure development projects have been halted without finalization and the public does not benefit from them.
