Court dismisses Gota's objection

COLOMBO (News 1st) -Today (Feb 11), the Permanent High Court Trial at Bar dismissed the preliminary objection filed by former Secretary of Defence Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. Rajapaksa claimed that the court cannot take up the case against him. The case filed against Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and seven others was for the alleged misappropriation of Rs. 33.9 million of public funds. The funds were allegedly used to construct the D.A.Rajapaksa memorial museum. The case was filed against former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and 7 others, With regard to the misappropriation of Rs.33.9 million of state funds for the construction of the museum. The sixth accused, Mahinda Sagala, had been hospitalized for surgery and his lawyer informed that he would not appear in court today(February 11). The court decided to postpone the hearing until the 22nd of July.
