Heated situation at the Bope Poddala Pradeshiya Sabha

Colombo (News 1st) - A heated situation was reported at the Bope Poddala Pradeshiya Sabha due to a proposal to increase Telephone and Fuel Allowances. The Bope Poddala Pradeshiya Sabha convened yesterday under the chairmanship of Dilruk Abeykoon. A proposal of the Deputy Chairman Sumith Jayasekara to increase the telephone allowance to 5000/= and the Fuel allowance to 8000/= was presented by the Chairman, as the Deputy Chairman failed to attend the Pradeshiya Sabah session. A heated situation took place when JVP members of the Pradeshiya Sabha expressed dissent to the proposal. Taking stock of the situation the Chairman decided to adjourn the session, however after making an announcement that the proposal would be presented in 3 months, tempers flared once again.
