President chairs special meeting on Bond Scam

Colombo (News1st): A decision has been reached to speed up investigations into the Central Bank Bond Scam during a meeting held this evening under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena. At the meeting it was decided to take the necessary steps to commence legal action on the bond scam within a specific time frame. A decision was also reached to launch a forensic audit into the bond scam. The President is to chair a meeting each month to inquire into the progress made into the investigations. It was also revealed at the meeting that the government of Singapore has not taken any action to apprehend former central bank governor Arjuna Mahendran even though the Sri Lankan government had made an official request.
