Colombo (News1st): Controversy has arisen in the political arena as a result of several SLFP members of Parliament obtaining membership of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna. Will the change in party membership affect their seats in Parliament? Speaking at a public rally held in Homagama yesterday (December 16), former Minister Basil Rajapaksa stated that there are several MP's who sought membership of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and they have not been given membership in the SLPP yet He said the memberships will be approved following consideration. He said it is true that several SLFP MPs have requested to join SLPP, but they have not yet been given the membership. Basil Rajapaksa noted that the Executive Committee of their party is not like the past, therefore, they will receive their membership following discussions.
