48 year old man dies in police custody

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A 48-year-old suspect who was in the custody of the Dummalasooriya police has died. The deceased a resident of Udubaddaawa, Maha Ara was arrested during an illegal alcohol raid. A spokesperson for the police confirmed that the suspect had lost consciousness while being transported to the Dummalasooriya Police on a bike by two police personnel. He had died upon admission to the Kuliyapitiya hospital and the autopsy is to be conducted today (December 11).
