Maximum retail price set for bottled drinking water

COLOMBO (News 1st): An extraordinary gazette notification has been issued specifying the maximum retail price for bottled drinking water. According to the gazette notification issued by the Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority, the maximum retail price for water bottles will come into effect from Friday (October 5). Thereby, the maximum retail prices are as follows;
  • 350 to 499 ml: Rs. 26
  • 500 ml to 749 ml: Rs. 35
  • 750 ml to 999 ml: Rs. 40
  • 1 litre to 1.49 lt: Rs. 50
  • 1.5 lt - 4.99 lt: Rs. 70.00
  • 5 lt to 6.9 lt: Rs. 150.
  • 7 litres onwards: Rs. 170.
The Consumer Affairs Authority orders that no manufacturer, trader or distributor shall sell, expose or offer for sale or display locally packaged/bottled Drinking Water above the Maximum Retail Prices.
