COLOMBO (News 1st) - Speaking at an event held yesterday (September 22) to unveil the pinnacle of the Chaitya at a temple in Galle, Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated the following views. The former president stated that the list of people for whom drought relief is to be provided by the government has been prepared based on political affiliations. Rajapaksa also stated that at present factories are shutting down because of the countries tax policy and that it gives rise to unemployment in thousands. "Those who promised to create hundreds of thousands of jobs are slashing jobs. The people are suffering because they have no policy or plan or program. They claim this critical situation was created because of the debt I borrowed" added the Former President. Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa also stated that the first instalment for the loan borrowed for the Hambantota harbour had been paid off from the revenue earned by the Ports Authority.
