COLOMBO (News 1st): The Supreme Court ordered today (July 26) to postpone the hearing of the petition filed by Chief Minister of the Northern Province C.V. Vigneshwaran, appealing for the cancellation of the Interim Injunction issued by the Court of Appeal, suspending the implementation of the gazette notification issued in August 2017 which removed B. Daniswaran from his Ministerial portfolio in the Northern Province. The petition is to be taken up once again on the 5th of September. The petition was taken up today (July 26th) before a bench consisting of Supreme Court Justices Buwaneka Aluvihare, Priyantha Jayawardena and Justice Prasanna Jayawardena. In his petition, Chief Minister of the Northern Province, C.V. Vigneshwaran, has pointed out that the Interim Injunction issued on the 29th of last month is not legal. Chief Minister Vigneshwaran has filed the petition claiming that the Court of Appeal has no power to suspend a gazette notification issued by the Chief Minister.
