COLOMBO (News 1st) - A project to provide clean drinking water was vested with the public in Demodara 6 months ago. A protest was staged opposite the site of the water project today by those who had lost their lands due to the project. According to our correspondent in the area, nearly 100 area residents had taken part in the demonstration. Uva Provincial Councillor Samantha Vidiyarathne and the Uva Provincial opposition leader also had arrived at the site of the protest. The group dispersed after the opposition leader of the Uva provincial council promised to provide swift solutions to those who had lost their land as a result of the project.
