Weather alert: Public advised to remain vigilant

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Disaster Management Centre has urged those living close to banks and bunds in mountainous regions to be vigilant due to the prevalent weather. Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre, Pradeep Kodippili, also called on the general public to exercise caution to avoid lightning related activities. Issuing a weather advisory, the Department of Meteorology says heavy falls of about 100mm can be expected at some places, particularly in the Western, North-western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central, Eastern and Uva Provinces this evening (April 12).
