Once the girl to beat in UFC, "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey officially has now joined the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) last night (February 25), when she signed her contract in a televised event. Rousey is an American professional wrestler, actress, and former mixed martial artist. Rousey was the first American woman to earn an Olympic medal in judo (bronze), which she won at the 2008 Summer Olympic at Beijing. She is the former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion, as well as the last Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Champion. She won 12 consecutive MMA fights, six in the UFC, before suffering her first loss to Holly Holm in 2015.

Fight Against Holly Holm

In the main event at UFC 193 on November 15, 2015, Ronda Rousey defended her UFC title against Holly Holm. Despite being a heavy betting favorite, Rousey was unable to get Holm to the ground and had no answer for Holm's superior striking. Early in the second round, Holm knocked Rousey out with a high kick to the neck, ending Rousey's three-year reign as a champion. Rousey was medically suspended by UFC in November, which included a no-contact suspension for 45 days, and no fights for 60 days and would have to depend on CT scan results to have the suspension reduced. She was medically cleared on December 9, 2015.

Rousey's Return after Injury

After over a year away from the sport, Rousey returned to face the current champion Amanda Nunes on December 30, 2016, in the main event at UFC 207. A flurry of punches by Nunes ended the match just 48 seconds into it, with a TKO (Technical Knock Out). Rousey simply had no answer to Nunes' straight and overhead shots. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7bGvi7-Db4 Rousey's opponents' as-well-as fans blamed her trainer for the loss against Nunes, saying he prepared her with a 'boxing' technique, which Rousey is not known for.

Ronda Rousey joining WWE

Rousey has said that joining WWE was a childhood dream and that this is not a publicity stunt. However, she hasn't officially ruled out a return to UFC either or even officially mentioned the word retirement. There is a precedent for competing in both organizations at the same time. Rousey made a surprise appearance at Royal Rumble Pay-per-view on January 28, 2018, confronting Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss, SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte, and Auska, who had just won the Women's Royal Rumble Match. It was later revealed that she had signed a full-time contract with WWE. The jacket which Rousey wore during this appearance belonged to "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, Canadian professional wrestler who had given Rousey the blessing to use his nickname “Rowdy”. On Sunday (February 25) at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, Rousey was involved in an in-ring altercation with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, after which she signed her contract (in story-line).
